I have the same exact problem. Of note, I tried it with my wife's iphone and it does not do it. Seems to be isolated to android auto.

I would like to get the update for my vivid 11 unit. Here is my MCU MTCH_HA_V3.89A_1

When the unit wakes up it won't connect to my zfold4 via Bluetooth. Manual attempts fail. Rebooting the HU is the only way to fix it.  Video of issue
