PX6 device sometimes creates audible pop sound and "dies" - only comes back after Reset button

  • I have PX6 Android 10 head unit for about 3 years now. Over last few months weird issue started happening. I am driving and listening to radio or music and then suddenly audible pop sound happens and then everything goes black. Screen is off, not responding to anything.

Switching ignition off and then back on also doesn't do anything... Only solution is to press RESET button and then it boots up again.

Any ideas on what could be causing this? Device has the latest firmware and I have made no changes for more than a year now. How do I troubleshoot this?

  • @Ed Vard We are wondering if you can shot a video to demonstrate the situation that you mentioned and send it our email address:  support@dasaita.com that we can forward the issue to our technician and seek for further assistance. (*Attach your order number in the email title if possible) We will appreciate  your cooperation and understanding.

  • This happened to me 3 times in 2 months now. next time it happens, I will take a video and send to your email. Thanks!

  • I have the same issue. Did you solve the problem?

  • @Gerardo Quintana Could you send us your order number so that we could locate more order detail and give you instruction?

In the meanwhile, we are wondering if you could shot a video to demonstrate your situation so that we could forward to the engineer for assistance.

    Your cooperation will be appreciated.

  • @Support Dasaita This issue is happening again, but with increased frequency. there is no way to take the video as head unit randomly instantly shuts off and nothing works again until complete powercycle. How Can I help to troubleshoot this? Can I connect USB keyboard after reboot and get some report log back to you?

  • @Ed Vard Hey, we are wondering if you could contact with MTKNAVI directly as we could not found your order information to locate more detail and then give you more accurate instruction.

  • @Support Dasaita  MTKNAVI is out of business, I bought it off Aliexpress. I am suprised that you can't trace it by serial number...

  • @Gerardo Quintana Exact same problem. Though mine seems to go back up quickly and doesn't do full power on cycle and loading.

  • @Ed Vard Sorry for the inconvenience, as your order was not bought from our store, what we could suggest you to do is to update the firmware and MCU to fix our existing bugs. If still no improvement, we may assume it's hardware associated issue. We have launched new series now, would you kindly consider changing the head unit to the latest G12?

  • @Support Dasaita Depends on what that would look like. Maybe. Where can I see specs and what is this G12 about?

  • @Ed Vard We are wondering if you could let us know the year of the your Tacoma and it will be nice if you can send us a photo of your OEM head unit. We will send you the corresponding listing.

    Await for your prompt reply.

  • @Support Dasaita  It's Rav4 2015, steering wheel on the left hand side.

    This is the original radio

  • @Support Dasaita  Thanks. I will take a look.

I have update to my issues though. Recently this is happening every other ride with car.

    1. Doesn't matter if headunit is at idler or playing music, sudenly loud POP sound happends and headunit instantly goes black screen, audio stops.

    2. To bring it back to live, I have to either:

    - Switch ignition off and wait long enought, Then when I switch ignition ON, it comes back again

    - Hold reset button and headunit restarts

    3. I was always thinking that head unit dies during this but this is wrong. I have phone connected via bluetooth and when screen is off (after loud POP) and IF i get a call - screen turns on and displays a call! Once call is over, screen again dies and goes black.

    4. So here's a trick - once screen dies after loud POP, i get a call, or I make a call, then screen comes back ON, then i minimize phone call screen and then using power button - Restart device ...

So something is going on as screen dies, but the unit itself stays on. Any thoughts from this end? Can give this to you engineers to think about?

  • @Ed Vard In this case, it's probably the mother board issue which is not stable, just wondering if you consider placing an order for the new G12, we would like to offer you 10% off discount.
