Spotify shows offline with established network connection

    I am experiencing a peculiar issue with my head unit when connected via Wi-Fi to my iPhone 13 mini. Although the network connection appears to be stable, allowing me to browse the internet and stream YouTube without any issues, the Spotify app consistently displays a message indicating that I am offline, which is incorrect.

    Interestingly, my wife, who also uses an iPhone 13 but with a dual SIM setup, encounters the same problem when using the same provider (SIM 1) to provide a hotspot for the head unit. However, when she switches to her second SIM card (Telekom), everything functions perfectly.

    Furthermore, when I use CarPlay with my phone and SIM, Spotify works as expected. I have also noticed that over-the-air updates for the head unit only succeed when connected through my wife’s Telekom SIM. Otherwise, no updates are available.

    I am unsure whether this is an issue related to the SIM provider or the head unit itself. I have already contacted the provider to inquire about any known issues with hotspot functionality and media streaming, but they were unable to provide any information. Initially, I suspected the Spotify app might be at fault, but the inability to receive updates suggests a broader connectivity problem.

    Could you please advise on any potential solutions or troubleshooting steps I can take to resolve this issue?

  • @Thomas Makro Let me sort out your issue. You have connected your phone with the head unit throught CarPlay. Then you see an OTA update on the System update App. Your head unit inserted your wife's Telekom SIM and find that latest update. Note that if you connected to CarPlay the hotspot access will be occupied, so the Android app like System update outside CarPlay will be offline unless you use a SIM card for Internet.

    no, sorry. The head unit is only using wifi which is provided by my phone (mobile hotspot). In dependence of the sim card (in the phone) I have access to spotify or the latest updates. Therefore I was wondering if it is a problem with my cell phone provider but its not. If im connecting the head unit to the phone with car play, spotify works.
