CarPlay not connecting G13 unit


  • Order SP-DA5444.  Just started install and am having issues with CarPlay

    Instructions from G12 manual online say:

    1.Enable hotspot on your Apple Iphone and connect the stereo to it.
    2.Search Bluetooth “CARKIT ”on your phone, enter default PIN “0000” and pair it, then Agree “Use CarPlay”.
    3.Turn on CarPlay on the stereo and wait for the connection to be successful.

     

    Instructions in manul labeled G13 that came with unit say:

    1. Turn on the CarPlay on the head unit.

    2. Turn on Wifi and Bluetooth of your iPhone.

    3. Find Bluetooth "CAR-KIT" and enter the PIN "0000" to connect it.

    4. Click "Use CarPlay" on the popping of "Use CarPlay with the Zlink" on your phone.

    These instructions differ and neither has led to success connecting my iPhone to CarPlay.  Am I supposed to connect the phone to the units hotspot and then connect the BT?  Am I supposed to open hotspot on my phone and connect the unit to it and then BT?

    I can connect to BT music, but cannot get unit and phone to use CarPlay.

    What is the correct sequence to complete this connection on my unit?

    I just installed mine a week ago. My Wifi,bluetooth and hot spot were all on and didnt have any connection issues. However:after watching lots of videos you cannot use your hotspot on iphone because the android unit cannot connect to both hotspot and carplay at the same time as far as being able to use google,youtube etc. My steering wheel controls will only work with up/down volumn,or changing songs,not both. I tried programming the way Dasaiti told me to still didnt work. I'm sure there is some sort of update but for what I've been reading it's a crap shoot.

    I think when you buy these radios it's a hit or miss if all the functions will work or not. I have a 2017 Tundra,I can live with the way mine is working at this point,definetly a better upgrade than stock and looks amazing installed.

    About the Wireless CarPlay connection, here enclosed the method for your reference:
    Step1. Unit: Open CarPlay App.
    Step2. iPhone: Search Bluetooth "CARKIT";
    and entry default PIN "0000" to pair it;
    then tap "Use CarPlay" on the pop-up "Use CarPlay with the Zlink".
    Step3. Wait for the connection.
    Besides, please note that it doesn't support to enble network(WiFi/Hotspot/Bluetooth tethering) when you’re using Zlink(CarPlay/Android Auto),
    cuz the Bluetooth&network access has been occupied by Zlink.


  • @Support Dasaita Phone is already connected to BT of the unit since I can stream to BT music.  It will not connect when I select CarPlay, because it is already paired.  I have deleted the CAR-KIT from the phone and tried to repair, I never get the pop-up but BT music will work.

    How do you delete the phone from the unit? 

    iPhone 8 running IOS 16.7.8. 


  • @Support Dasaita Removed phone from phone settings menu of unit and removed carkit from phone BT, still did not receive popup after paring.  BT music works fine.  My iPhone 8 works wired and wireless on Toyota factory CarPlay systems.   How do I initiate return since I only bought this unit for the CarPlay feature?

    Hi there, we are wondering iif you could proceed a factory reset. Please go to Settings > system > Factory reset the system. After then, please go to pair the bluetooth and then turn on the CarPlay on the stereo to wait for the connection to be successful.

  • Already tried that.  No change.  Just stays on Zlink page with iPhone connected via BT.  How do I return this?

    If possible, could you please try to reset network settings on your phone then see if it can connect CarPlay successfully?
    Steps: Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

    After mutliple resets of the phone and unit it will now connect to Zlink and do CarPlay.  I noticed that after the factory reset of the unit I am now missing the navigation app that was preinstalled with the maps (iGo I think was the app).  I had played with this feature while I was trying to get CarPlay operational and it worked to locate my current position and to input destinations.  Now when I select the navigation tile on the home screen it tries to open Google maps.  How do I get the offline navigation app and map back?  Not sure what else that was preinstalled is now missing, but it seems like there are less widgets when I scroll on the home screen.

     

    I also noticed the sample video files and pictures are also gone now.  I wanted to use one of the videos to show my wife why I spent so much time and money trying to get this to work.  How do I get those back too?  

    I am also looking for an electronic copy of the G13 User Manual that was included since the images are so small I can't see some of the instructions.

    Step1.
    Download the file via computer/laptop from above link;
    Use the WinZip application to unzip the file "iGO_Pal(.rar)"
    Step2.
    Copy the whole unzipped folder "iGO_Pal" (it contains 11 files) into USB drive.
    Step3.
    Insert USB drive into the head unit via single/dual USB cable;
    Go App "FileBrowser";
    Copy the whole unzipped folder "iGO_Pal" from the USB drive to the unit's folder "Flash".
    Step4. 
    After pasting successfully, remove the USB drive safely;
    Go "Flash" > "iGO_Pal";
    Step5. 
    Go Settings > CAR > Navigation > Navigation application options > enable "iGO" App.
