Hi. Need help using the SIM CARD feature of my stereo but don’t know what SIM card to put in it. Will any SIM card work? I have ATT on my phone, do I have to use them? Do you have any videos of this working?

Hi,
May i know which country are you located in?So that we could better confirm the Sim card.
Hey Mark,
If you're in the USA, I have had great success with T-Mobile SIMs. Just using a regular phone plan on the line works with 4G data, SMS and phone calls directly from the head unit using a Dasaita G12.
AT&T largely uses the same primary bands as TMo in the USA for 4G. I think ATT would work fine *if* they are willing to activate it for you. I think they're more particular about whether the IMEI of the device shows as compatible in their system. I don't have any first hand experience with that though.
Thank you all. I do live in US and you are right AT&T ask for a IMEI that I don't have but I have heard ther is a way to get one?? Anyways not sure I even want to do this with out seing a video of the process after you install the Sim card and then I would love to see a Video from Dasaita or anyone of post install. Just want to see the advantage of doing this??
Hi Mark,
Your device has an IMEI. It's a unique identification number every mobile (cellular) device has. You can view it in the settings. If no one else chimes in I'll grab a short video for you on how you access it later.
To your other question, adding a sim and cell plan directly to the radio just allows the unit to have its own source of Internet connectivity independent of your cell phone. You can use Google Maps, YouTube Music, Spotify, whatever you want.
If, for example, you always use Apple Carplay or Android Auto and don't have a need for the radio to be able to access the Internet on its own, there's probably no need to add SIM.
@Mark Wallace
AT&T is supported.
*Please note power of the car before insert the SIM card inside the SIM card slot.
1.Please make sure the Sim card in correct size.
2.Settings > car > factory settings (password:126) >Other >SIM card voice call.
Yes, If you always use Apple Carplay or Android Auto,you may not use the SIM card.
Just like some special case,when you want to have the unit connected to network while using CarPlay,please using the 4G Sim card.Because head unit could not be connected to hotspot when you’re using wireless CarPlay, cuz the WiFi access has been occupied by the CarPlay.
That sucks. Thanks guys for the info
@Mark Wallace
Hi Mark,
Thank you for you time in this matter.Currently,the car navigation systems on the market usually only have one WiFi access.
@Mark Wallace What's the issue with this functionality? I run a sim in my G12 with great results. I just want to make sure there's no miscommunication with what Dasaita posted above.
You absolutely can use the SIM card connected data and Carplay/AA at the same time if you want. What Dasaita is saying above (which I think may have lead to your response) is that you may not *need* to use the 4G SIM if all you use is Carplay/AA.
The only limitation here is that you can't simultaneously connect the head unit to a WiFi hotspot and use AA/Carplay at the same time. That isn't really needed if you have a sim in the device.
