9 inch android 13 - 4runner - Loud Static Sound From Bluetooth Audio - Goes Away When Switching To radio

  • I purchased this Unit from amazon for my 2014 4runner on oct 22. When I first installed it The bluetooth audio from android auto would cut out randomley but that issue was resolved with a firmware update BUT the unit still has another major issue . There is a loud static noise that sounds like crackling that comes out of the right channel sometimes sometimes once in 30 minutes and sometimes right after i turn on the unit . The noise is NOT alternator whine and it is NOT a loose cable connection to an amplifier . This noise will go away if i use the am/fm radio.  it will NEVER make the noise using radio , but as soon as i switch back to android auto the noise is back . Sometimes i can drive for 30 minutes without the noise before the noise comes back . The noise is present on music and the voice of the google assistant . I have tried 3 different versions of AVRCP bluetooth 1.4 , 1.5 and 1.6 and i have also tried 4 different audio codecs in the phone . I have also tried it with 3 different phones including A brand new 2024 samsung. It is my opinion that there is a  Defective digital to analog converter in the bluetooth chip , or that the bluetooth chip or the D/A converter has a bad solder joint from manafacturing . I really want this radio to work . Do you have any suggestions other than returning it for a different Unit?

  • Also I wanted to say that the Unit Made the static scratching sound before I did the firmware update , but i had assumed that it was related to the bluetooth losing connection . The update fixed the lost connection but the loud static remains present

  • Pinging this because I have the same issue. Any solutions?

  • I have the same issue with static.  I installed the radio with no issiues.  I'm using AIr Play app and all the apps have very noticbable static.  Audio books and podcast are very bad.   I have the newest version of firmware.    I have verified alll cables are connected securly.

    Hello.
In order to help you better, please confirm whether your car equipped with amplifier, such as JBL, BOSE, Premium Audio System, etc.

  • I am having the same static when using Bluetooth. I have a 2007 Toyota tundra with JBL amplifier. Is there a solutions to this problem?

  • @Fyan Myers Please kindly let us know if the static only occur when you play bluetooth music, have you connected the factory brackets on our head unit with the cars screws?

  • @Support Dasaita Yes only with Bluetooth. There is no way to connect the head unit with the factory screws. I just used the press in fittings. The static is only noticeable at low volumes. When you turn the volume up the static doesn't get louder with the audio playing. Thank you for you quick response! Other than the static I have been happy with this unit. The only other fault that I have found is when using WiFi I have to turn the Bluetooth on my device off. Otherwise it constantly turns the WiFi off and reconnects to the Bluetooth. Any fix for this?

  • @Support Dasaita I wanted to add I have a different head unit than the one originally identified in this thread. Mine is as follows

Dasaita Android 13 Car Stereo for Toyota Tundra 2007-2013 with Wireless Carplay & Android Auto, 10.2" Touch Screen Head Unit, GPS, Radio, 6G RAM 64G ROM, Bluetooth 5.0, 5G WiFi, 4G LTE

    1.

Please go to Settings>About machine and provide the following version information:

1)A clear photo of the stereo's Built Number.

2)A clear photo of the stereo's MCU version.

    2.

Please note that you need to open both the WiFi and Bluetooth on your phone&the head unit to enable wireless CarPlay. In other words, the head unit could not be connected to hotspot when you’re using wireless CarPlay, cuz the WiFi access has been occupied by the CarPlay.

You may go to the setting to disable the Bluetooth Auto connect.

3.Did you use the factory brackets on the unit?
