Low volume on apps (No Android Auto/Carplay)

  • Hello,

I have the G13 QCM6125 model for a 2015 Toyota Auris without amplifier. I had the firmware 20240903 but it also happens on the 20241022.

The music I play from USB as well as the radio are heard at a correct volume. The problem I have is that navigation instructions on Google Maps, WhatsApp audios or voice notes and Google assistant, are heard quite low, very much so, with respect to music playback.

I do not use Android Auto or Carplay, I directly use the device with a SIM card that provides the network connection, that is, I use the applications directly installed on the device.

These apps have no volume control of their own, only Google Maps has an option where I set the directions to the highest volume mode, but even then, the directions are barely audible.

I have tried turning the system volume down and up in Factory Settings to no avail, as the system volume turns up the volume on everything and therefore this turns up or down the volume on the apps as well. The problem seems to be in the difference in volume of what is system sound playback versus multimedia sound playback coming from other applications. Surely I am not the only one to whom this problem occurs, but it is true that most users who ride your devices, may not suffer from this problem because they use Android Auto or Carplay.

Please fix this, ince it becomes impossible to listen to Google Maps directions, Google Assistant and WhatsApp voice notes while playing music from the player or radio.

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards.

  • Hello,

I have already sent an email to support. I have included another video with a problem related to system software or the CanBus unit. It is the following:

It happens that, randomly, there are times that it does not switch to the rear camera when I put it in reverse gear. Sometimes, when this happens, the steering wheel controls and/or the radar assist, illustration when opening doors, etc. also stop working. Sometimes only the rear camera is not working, although there are times when the rear camera does work when putting the car in reverse gear, but all the above mentioned do not work.

Every time it happens I try to reboot the device to check if it is fixed this way and no, the problem persists until I spend a day without taking the vehicle, after letting a day pass, everything works correctly again when starting the vehicle again.
In the forum I read something similar to this problem and the forum team replied with that the vibrations of the car could cause the CanBus unit to fail, something that does not apply to my vehicle, since this occurs with the vehicle stopped and without vibration, since my vehicle is a hybrid.
I think it usually happens when the volume controls are pressed too often, it is as if some system application or the CanBus itself is saturated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards.

  • After talking to support via email, they tell me what I already read in another message, that the volume problem depends on the applications introducing their own volume control. As an experienced user, I can tell you that this can be fixed in another way, as I have already told the department.

I am attaching links to a mod that, in this case, cannot be installed unless you have the device rooted, but that your developers can introduce and adapt to make this mod and per-app volume control application work on the unit. In addition Samsung makes use of their own app for this as well, this is “Sound Assistant”.

There is also the possibility that they will implement a function to lower the gain on the factory media player, at least so that you can match the music volume to that of Google Maps directions, Google assistant, Whatsapp Audios, Spotify, etc. There are solutions, they just require effort and, above all, listening to the community.
I myself have managed to solve a problem that the support team told me was not supported, such as deleting the SIM card PIN from the unit, and this without requiring special permissions.
Please, let this message reach your superiors, because if you do not listen to the community and solve problems that are a priority for an experience according to the price that not any user can pay for your units, for that users will better opt for buying an Android Auto and Carplay module, because the Standalone experience is not fully functional with your units having this kind of problems.

I hope you understand my message, but it's just that since I installed the unit, between the problems of not randomly displaying the reversing camera, radar graphics, air conditioning, door unlocking, etc. plus the steering wheel controls randomly going away as well, it's making the experience worse to the point that it's worsening that of the original Toyota unit.

I am waiting for these problems to be solved.

Thank you in advance. Best regards.
