@Support Dasaita I saw new online update from 0513, installed, external mic setting still not working, thanks.
@H H In this case, we are afraid that your external Mic is defective, would you like to exchange it or you want to purchase a Mic adapter and try other brand Microphone.

Hi, no, I disagree with you, aftrer spending days to get new external mics.
I have tried another 2 mics, I am holding it in my hand and tested them.
1. The mic in car setting is set to INTERNAL.
- 1a. In Bluetooth, not carplay, internal mic and new external mics are working
- 1b. In Carplay, internal mic and new external mics are working, but still picking up sound together.
2. The mic in car settring is set to EXTERNAL.
- 2a. In Bluetooth, not carplay, new external mics are working
- 2b. In Carplay, internal mic and new external mics are both silent.
Thank you.
@H H Our engineer said that they have blocked the EXTERNAL settings, and will defaultly set Internal in the coming firmware. Regarding to the call quality of Carplay, we are wondering if you could record a video to demonstrate your issue, or you could further describe it, is it static noise or overlapping sounds of 2 mics?
@Support Dasaita sorry, I can't, I am not able to test, drive and record at the same time.
So I think we have confirmed that the mic was working fine and it was caused by your firmware change, but this cost me extra money to prove that.
At the meantime, I have updated to the latest 0606 firmware, I dunno what it improved.
We are now back to square one, why there is no setting to disable the mic on the device!?
Thanks.
@H H We have tested in our head units and in 2 cars, could not replicate your issue, it will be much helpful if you could ask someone to record the call quality so that we could forwarded to the manufacturers. You could set the External Mic in the Factory Settings to Internal, we will block this setting in the coming firmware.
As to the update of the 20240606 version, we have publish the log on this post.

@Support Dasaita I continued to have the low volume issues, so I finally had time this weekend to do some updates. Here is where I'm currently at.
Since the update, I have no microphone at all, so at this point, I'm not able to make calls using my truck. Please let me know what settings I need to change to get this working again.
Also, since the update, I no longer have the app to turn the camera on when not in reverse.
Thanks
@Ryan Ouellette

I have the G12 unit in my 2016 4Runner and I've installed everything properly and also purchased your adapter to run a custom mic made to fit in the original factory location by enfig. I've updated the MCU to 4.12b and firmware to the latest release 20240812 and I still can't find where we can select the external mic under the factory settings under other. My question is how do we know if the unit is using the internal or external mic because the calls we're cutting in and out from the recipient side of the conversation and I want to confirm if the problem is the unit not recognizing the external mic? If the external mic is bad, then I will replace it but I have a feeling the head unit is using the internal mic instead. Please advise as I've seen in many of these mic issue forums that we should be able to select in settings weather we want to use internal or external mic.
Still no luck. There is no audio coming through when I make calls. Is there a way to turn this on? I don't see a place to turn it on. For reference, I'm using your adapter PJ-HM01 with a Sony external mic. I was getting audio, but it sounded like I was in a tunnel, and very hard for people to hear me. Since the updates, I've been getting no audio through the mic. Let me know, as the phone through the head unit is unusable now.
@Support Dasaita , the FCam app also disappeared after the last update. How do I get it back?
@Ryan Ouellette
Hello.
For your information, the new version software already removed the related setting about microphone.
Without connecting external microphone, the unit will use internal microphone automatically.
But if you connected external mic, then the unit will use external mic by default.
@Ryan Ouellette
Hello.
For your information, F-Cam App is for aftermarket front camera only.
If needed, please enable it as follows:
Settings > Car > Factory settings (password :126) > Other > Front Camera > On > Apply > Exit > Reboot.
@Support Dasaita Do you have any idea why I can't use an external mic now with the update? Like you said, the unit should be using it by default. If this was a hardware issue with the mic, it would not have worked with earlier software versions, so I'm doubtful it is a microphone issue. Here is a breakdown of how this started 4 months ago.
- Provided microphone audio quality was poor. People said that they could barely hear me.
- Purchased adapter and new microphone; quality was better but not acceptable
- Multiple software and setting changes with a small improvement, but not good enough to make calls without people complaining on the other side of the phone.
- Updated to 20140713 and lost external mic completely, with no ability to turn mic on. I also lost apps like FCam and a couple of others.
- Updated to 20140812 with no change.
Needless to say, I'm starting to become quite frustrated as this issue has persisted for 4 months, and it is worse today than when we started. Not being able to use my phone through my Bluetooth is a daily inconvenience. I'm beginning to think that there is a hardware issue with my head unit. I urgently need your advice on how to remedy this issue. Thank you
@Ryan Ouellette
Hello.
For further confirmation, please tell us it happened when you are using Bluetooth calls or CarPlay calls.
Besides, if possible, could you please remove adapter PJ-HM01 with a Sony external mic then reconnect the standard external mic that comes with parcel to check if it can work after the update(20240812&4.12b).
So that we can reflect your case to our technician for further advice.
By the way, some pre-installed Apps will be deleted after the update is normal situation.
It still supports to download again from Google Play Store and install by yourself.
@Support Dasaita I will have to see if I still have the standard mic. I may have thrown it away after it did not work and was replaced. I can take my truck apart again, but it is a big inconvenience to do the tests you are asking for. Also, I have never used the unit through bluetooth phone, I only use Carplay. Are you see these types of issues with other units on the newest firmware? Is it possible that the headunit it faulty?
@Ryan Ouellette
Hello.
Please be assured that it is not the headunit faulty.
If possible, could you please try to test Bluetooth calls firstly at your convenience?
Ok, so the mic works on bluetooth, but sounds like i'm very far away to the other people on the phone. Here is the bluetooth version.
I'm also having issues connecting my OBD2 reader. I have 2 different ones that I have tried. It shows up on the list, I click on it, and it pops up yes or no to connect. I choose yes and it disappears and does not connect.
Let me know what to try next.
Thanks
@Ryan Ouellette
Hello.
For your information, it doesn't support to connect other Bluetooth devices when you’re using wireless Zlink(CarPlay/Android Auto),
cuz the Bluetooth access has been occupied by Zlink.
If you want to want to connect OBD, please make sure that you have disconnected Zlink firstly.
