My head unit is the current model G12 with 8G/256G. Vehicle is a 2018 Tundra. I’m currently using the head unit’s internal amp to power the aftermarket dash tweeters, center channel and the factory external amp to power the aftermarket four mid bass drivers in the doors. I’ve also added a Kicker mono amp to power a 10” subwoofer. I’m using a pair of low level outputs to get a signal to the Kicker sub amp. Caps and resistors have been added to the tweeters and dash center channel. Resistors are utilized to balance the output with the mid bass drivers in the doors. I’m very pleased with the overall sound quality although I could use a bit more volume on certain tracks and albums.
I’m thinking of replacing the Toyota factory amp that currently powers the door’s mid bass drivers. Currently, the stock factory amp receives a high level signal from the head unit via factory wiring. The four channel amp I’m considering will take either a high or low level signal. From what I’ve read on a couple different forums, the low level output from Dasaita head units are subpar and using the high level speaker outputs will achieve better results.
Have others found this to be true regarding using a high level signal from the head unit being the better option in getting a signal to my new 4-channel amp?
