Before installing your new head unit(HA2179-G12 or HA2225-G12) back into the 4Runner, you’ll need to swap out some parts from the factory one. Start by removing the steel brackets on each side of the head unit.
Note: After remove the bracket bolts from the right side of the head unit, please set them aside as you’ll need some (not all) for the NEW head unit!!!!!
Step 1. Remove Left side mounting bracket:

Step 3. Remove OEM clips:
Slide your smaller flat head screw driver beneath the clip and it should pop off. Pinch the plastic clip holding the wiring into place and the wiring harness should free itself from the bracket. Set this aside as it will be reused on the new head unit.
Step 4. Remove Factory hazard button:
Step 4.Install brackets on the new Head Unit:
A. 2010-2013 Mounting Bracket (HA2225)
B. 2014-2023 Mounting Bracket (HA2225)
C.2014-2019 Mounting Bracket (HA2179)
Note:
The HA2225 includes 2 sets of brackets. One set is pre-installed on the head unit, so please check before installing the OEM brackets and verify the brackets orientation. The HA2225 is compatible with nearly the entire Toyota 4Runner series from 2010-2023, making it a versatile choice.
The HA2179 is a popular stereo model in our Dasaita Stores. If your car is from 2014-2019, we recommend the HA2179. It comes with pre-installed brackets, but please verify the bracket orientation before installation.
